Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 13295

Sayyiduna Ubadah bin al-Samit (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: A man from Banu Layth came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "O Messenger of Allah! Shall I recite poetry to you?" He said this three times. When, the fourth time, he recited his praise of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If any of the poets does well, then you have done well."
Al-Tabarani recorded it. Its chain contains a narrator who is not named, and Ata bin al-Sa'ib, whose memory became confused (ikhtilat).
