بَابٌ فِيمَنْ يُعَيِّرُ بِالنَّسَبِ أَوْ غَيْرِهِ
One who taunts others about lineage or otherwise

وَعَنْ ثَوْبَانَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - قَالَ : " لَا تُؤْذُوا عِبَادَ اللَّهِ ، وَلَا تُعَيِّرُوهُمْ ، وَلَا تَطْلُبُوا عَوْرَاتِهِمْ ، فَإِنَّهُ مَنْ تَطَلَّبَ عَوْرَةَ أَخِيهِ الْمُسْلِمِ ، طَلَبَ اللَّهُ عَوْرَتَهُ حَتَّى يَفْضَحَهُ فِي بَيْتِهِ " . رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ ، وَرِجَالُهُ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ غَيْرَ مَيْمُونِ بْنِ عَجْلَانَ وَهُوَ ثِقَةٌ .
Sayyiduna Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not harm the servants of Allah, do not shame them, and do not seek out their hidden faults, for whoever seeks out the hidden fault of his Muslim brother, Allah Almighty will turn to his hidden fault and disgrace him, even while he is (sitting) in his own house."
Ahmad recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih, except Maymun bin Ajlan, who is thiqah (trustworthy).
