عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ : مَشَيْتُ خَلْفَ النَّبِيِّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - أَخْتَبِرُهُ ، هَلْ يَكْرَهُ ذَلِكَ ، فَالْتَمَسَنِي بِيَدِهِ فَأَلْحَقَنِي ثُمَّ تَخَلَّفْتُ أَخْتَبِرُهُ ، هَلْ يَكْرَهُ ذَلِكَ ، فَالْتَمَسَنِي بِيَدِهِ فَأَلْحَقَنِي ، ثُمَّ تَخَلَّفْتُ أَخْتَبِرُهُ ، فَالْتَمَسَنِي فَأَلْحَقَنِي ، فَعَلِمْتُ أَنَّهُ يَكْرَهُ ذَلِكَ .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ ، وَفِيهِ حُسَيْنُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْهَاشِمِيُّ وَهُوَ مَتْرُوكٌ .

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: I was walking behind the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him); I wanted to find out whether he disliked this. He took hold of my hand and brought me alongside him. Then again I was walking behind him, wanting to find out whether he disliked this; he took hold of me with his blessed hand and brought me alongside him. Then again I was walking behind him, wanting to find out whether (he disliked this), and he took hold of me and brought me alongside him. Then I knew that he disliked this.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. Its chain contains a narrator, Husayn bin Abdullah al-Hashimi, and he is matruk (abandoned).
