عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - :
" مَا هَلَكَتْ سَدُومٌ وَمَا حَوْلَهَا مِنَ الْقُرَى ، حَتَّى اسْتَاكُوا بِالسِّوَاكِ ، وَمَضَغُوا الْعِلْكَ فِي الْمَجَالِسِ " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ ، وَفِيهِ سَوَّارُ بْنُ مُصْعَبٍ وَهُوَ مَتْرُوكٌ .

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Sodom and the towns around it were not destroyed until they began using the tooth-stick (miswak) in gatherings and chewing gum."
Al-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains Sawwar bin Mus'ab, who is matruk (abandoned).
