Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 12825

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked a man: "O so-and-so, how are you?" He said: "O Messenger of Allah, I praise Allah before you." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "This is what I wanted from you."
Imam al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. Its chain contains Rishdin bin Sa'd, who is da'if (weak). He says:
This narration is reported from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) only with this chain.
