Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 12820

Sayyiduna Jundub bin Sufyan (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "When one of you seeks permission three times and is not given permission, he should go back."
Imam al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir and al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih, except for al-Abbas bin Muhammad al-Duri, and he is thiqah (trustworthy).
