Sayyiduna Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Uyaynah bin Hisn (may Allah be pleased with him) came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) while Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) was with him. He asked: "Who is this woman at your side?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "It is Aishah." He said: "O Messenger of Allah, shall I not give up for you a woman better than her?" By this he meant his own wife. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Go out and seek permission." He said to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "I have taken an oath that I will not seek permission to enter from any man of the tribe of Mudar." (After he had gone,) Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) asked: "Who was this?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "This was a fool who is followed."
Imam al-Tabarani recorded it from his teacher Ali bin Sa'id bin Bashir, who is a hafiz of hadith who travelled extensively in the pursuit of hadith. It has also been said about him that he is not of that standing. The remaining narrators of this report are the narrators of the Sahih, except for Yahya bin Muhammad bin Muti', and he is thiqah (trustworthy).
