Sayyidah Aishah Siddiqah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: A man asked permission to come in to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and he said: "He is a bad member of his clan." But when he came in, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) met him cheerfully. Then he left. After that another man asked permission to come in, and he said: "He is a good member of his clan." When he came in, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not show him much cheerfulness and did not treat him as he had treated the first man. When he left, I said: O Messenger of Allah! First so-and-so asked your permission to come in and you said one thing about him, but then you met him cheerfully; and about so-and-so you said something else, but I saw that you did not treat him the way you treated the first man. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Aishah! Among the worst of people are those whose obscene speech is avoided." (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: part of this report is mentioned in the Sahih.
Ahmad recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.
