Sayyiduna Sahl bin Hunayf (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Once a dispute arose between Sayyiduna Salman al-Farisi (may Allah be pleased with him) and a man. Sayyiduna Salman (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "O Allah, if this man is lying, then do not give him death until he meets one of three things." When his anger subsided, I said: "O Abu Abdullah, what did you pray against this man?" He said: "I will tell you: the trial of the Dajjal, the trial of a ruler that will be like the trial of the Dajjal, and the miserliness of a miser (I tell you about) which will be cast upon the people: when a man obtains wealth, he will not care from where he obtained it."
Al-Tabarani recorded it. Its chain contains Kathir bin Zayd al-Aslami, whom Yahya bin Ma'in and a group declared thiqah (trustworthy), while al-Nasa'i (may Allah have mercy on him) and a group called him da'if (weak).
