وَعَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ جَزْءٍ قَالَ : مَا كُنَّا نَسْمَعُ فَزْعَةً وَلَا رَجَّةً فِي الْمَدِينَةِ إِلَّا ظَنَنَّا أَنَّهُ الدَّجَّالُ ، لِمَا كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - يُحَدِّثُنَا عَنْهُ وَيُقَرِّبُهُ لَنَا . رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ وَالْبَزَّارُ ، وَفِيهِ ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ وَفِيهِ ضَعْفٌ .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin al-Harith bin Jaz' (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Whenever we heard any alarming news or commotion in Madinah, we thought it would be the Dajjal. The reason was that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had told us so much about him and had spoken of his nearness.
Al-Tabarani and al-Bazzar recorded it. Its chain contains Ibn Lahi'ah, and there is weakness in him.
