Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 12343

Sayyiduna Abu Malik al-Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, tribulations will be sent forth, and along with them desire will be sent forth, and patience will be sent forth along with them too. Whoever follows desire, his killing will be black; and whoever follows patience, his killing will be white."
Al-Tabarani recorded this narration; its chain contains Muhammad bin Isma'il bin Ayyash, who is da'if (weak).
