عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " شَرُّ قَتِيلٍ بَيْنَ صَفَّيْنِ أَحَدُهُمَا يَطْلُبُ الْمُلْكَ " . رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ ، وَفِيهِ عَبْدُ الْأَوَّلِ أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ وَلَمْ أَعْرِفْهُ ، وَبَقِيَّةُ رِجَالِهِ ثِقَاتٌ .
Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The worst of those killed is one (killed) between two groups, one of which seeks kingship."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains Abd al-Awwal Abu Nu'aym, whom I do not know, and the rest of its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
