Sayyiduna Bannah al-Juhani (may Allah be pleased with him) relates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by some people in the mosque (the narrator is in doubt; perhaps the words are:) in a gathering, who had drawn swords and were passing them to one another unsheathed. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "May Allah Almighty curse whoever does this! Had I not forbidden you from this before (I would have punished you). When you have drawn a sword, a man should first sheathe it and then give it to the other person in that state (with the sword in its sheath)."
Ahmad recorded it, and al-Tabarani in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir and al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains Ibn Lahi'ah, in whom there is some weakness, and the rest of its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.
