عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - يَقُولُ : " يَأْتِي عَلَى النَّاسِ زَمَانٌ يُخَيَّرُ فِيهِ الرَّجُلُ بَيْنَ الْعَجْزِ وَالْفُجُورِ ، فَمَنْ أَدْرَكَ ذَلِكَ الزَّمَانَ فَلْيَخْتَرِ الْعَجْزَ عَلَى الْفُجُورِ " . رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ وَأَبُو يَعْلَى عَنْ شَيْخٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، وَبَقِيَّةُ رِجَالِهِ ثِقَاتٌ .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "A time will come upon people in which a man will be given the choice either to be helpless or to commit sins; whoever reaches that time should choose helplessness over committing sins."
Ahmad and Abu Ya'la recorded it via a shaykh (who is not named), from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him); the rest of its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
