Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Abdullah bin Amr! What will become of you (when) you remain among the dregs of people? He said: O Messenger of Allah! What will that situation be? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: At that time people's trusts and their covenants will become mixed up, and they will become like this. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said this while interlacing his fingers. He said: O Messenger of Allah! What should I do? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Act upon what you recognise as good, abandon what you regard as munkar (or evil), act particularly for your own self, and leave the people (to their condition)."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat with two chains, the narrators of one of which are the narrators of the Sahih.
