عَنْ شَدَّادٍ أَبِي عَمَّارٍ قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي جَارٌ لِجَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ : قَدِمْتُ مِنْ سَفَرٍ فَجَاءَنِي جَابِرٌ يُسَلِّمُ عَلَيَّ ، فَجَعَلْتُ أُحَدِّثُهُ عَنِ افْتِرَاقِ النَّاسِ وَمَا أَحْدَثُوا . فَجَعَلَ جَابِرٌ يَبْكِي ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - يَقُولُ : " إِنَّ النَّاسَ دَخَلُوا فِي دِينِ اللَّهِ أَفْوَاجًا ، وَسَيَخْرُجُونَ مِنْهُ أَفْوَاجًا " . رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ ، وَجَارُ جَابِرٍ لَمْ أَعْرِفْهُ ، وَبَقِيَّةُ رِجَالِهِ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ .
Shaddad Abu Ammar narrates: A neighbour of Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) told me: Once I returned from a journey, and Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) came to me to greet me. I began telling him about the divisions among the people, and told him about the new state of affairs they had brought about. Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) began to weep and then said: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "People have entered the religion of Allah in throngs, and soon they will leave it in throngs."
Ahmad recorded it; I do not know the neighbour of Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him), and the rest of its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.
