Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "What will become of you, O people, when your women become rebellious and your young men become sinful?" The people said: O Messenger of Allah! Will this happen? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Yes, and something even more severe than that. What will become of you when you abandon enjoining good and forbidding evil? The people said: O Messenger of Allah! Will this happen? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Something even more severe than that. What will become of you when you regard munkar (evil) as ma'ruf (good) and ma'ruf as munkar?"
Abu Ya'la recorded it, and al-Tabarani in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, though he recorded the wording: "your youths become sinful." Abu Ya'la's chain contains Musa bin Ubaydah, and he is matruk (abandoned); al-Tabarani's chain contains Jarir bin al-Muslim, and I do not know him; the one who narrates from him is al-Tabarani's teacher Hammam bin Yahya, and I do not know him either.
