Abd al-Aziz bin Abi Bakrah narrates: Sayyiduna Abu Bakrah (may Allah be pleased with him) married a woman from Banu Ulathah. That woman passed away, and he carried her body to the graveyard. Her brothers stood in the way of Sayyiduna Abu Bakrah (may Allah be pleased with him) leading her funeral prayer. Sayyiduna Abu Bakrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said to them: Do not do this! For I have more right than you to lead the prayer. They said: The Companion of the Messenger of Allah has spoken the truth. Sayyiduna Abu Bakrah (may Allah be pleased with him) led that woman's funeral prayer. Then, as he entered the grave, her brothers pushed him violently; he fell and lost consciousness. Then he was carried to his family, and that day twenty of his sons and daughters cried out over him. The narrator Abd al-Aziz says: I was the youngest of them at that time. When Sayyiduna Abu Bakrah (may Allah be pleased with him) regained consciousness, he said to them: Do not cry out over me! By Allah! The departing of no soul is dearer to me than the departing of the soul of Abu Bakrah. The people became alarmed and asked him: O our father! Why is that? He said: I fear that I will reach a time in which I will not be able to enjoin good nor forbid evil, and there will be no good in that time.
Al-Tabarani recorded it, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
