Book of Tribulations (may Allah protect us from them)
بَابٌ فِيمَنْ لَم يَأْمُرْ بِمَعْرُوفٍ وَلَمْ يَنْهَ عَنْ مُنْكَرٍ .
One who neither enjoins good nor forbids evil
Majma al-Zawaid 12207 — One who neither enjoins good nor forbids evil
عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرَةَ قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - يَقُولُ : " يَأْتِي عَلَى النَّاسِ زَمَانٌ لَا يَأْمُرُونَ فِيهِ بِمَعْرُوفٍ ، وَلَا يَنْهَوْنَ عَنْ مُنْكَرٍ " . رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ ، وَفِيهِ بِسْطَامُ بْنُ حَبِيبٍ وَلَمْ أَعْرِفْهُ .
Sayyiduna Abu Bakrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "A time will come upon people in which they will not enjoin good and will not forbid evil."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains Bistam bin Habib, and I do not know him.
