بَابٌ فِيمَنْ خَشِيَ مِنْ ضَرَرٍ عَلَى غَيْرِهِ وَعَلَى نَفْسِهِ .

وَعَنْ عَلِيٍّ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَيْسَ لِلْمُسْلِمِ أَنْ يُذِلَّ نَفْسَهُ " . قَالُوا : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، كَيْفَ يُذِلُّ نَفْسَهُ ؟ قَالَ : " يَتَعَرَّضُ مِنَ الْبَلَاءِ لِمَا لَا يُطِيقُ " . رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ مِنْ طَرِيقِ الْخَضِرِ عَنِ الْجَارُودِ ، وَلَمْ يُنْسَبَا وَلَمْ أَعْرِفْهُمَا ،وَبَقِيَّةُ رِجَالِهِ ثِقَاتٌ .
Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "It is not proper for a Muslim to humiliate himself." The people asked: "How would he humiliate himself?" He said: "That he exposes himself to a trial he cannot bear."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat by way of al-Khadir from al-Jarud; their lineage is not given and I do not know them, and the rest of its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
