وَعَنْ شَدَّادِ بْنِ أَوْسٍ أَنَّهُ دَخَلَ عَلَى مُعَاوِيَةَ وَهُوَ جَالِسٌ ، وَعَمْرُو بْنُ الْعَاصِ جَالِسٌ عَلَى فِرَاشِهِ ، فَجَلَسَ شَدَّادٌ بَيْنَهُمَا وَقَالَ : هَلْ تَدْرِيَانِ مَا يُجْلِسُنِي بَيْنَكُمَا ؟ إِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - يَقُولُ : " إِذَا رَأَيْتُمُوهُمَا جَمِيعًا فَفَرِّقُوا بَيْنَهُمَا ، فَوَاللَّهِ مَا اجْتَمَعَا إِلَّا عَلَى غَدْرَةٍ " ، فَأَحْبَبْتُ أَنْ أُفَرِّقَ بَيْنَكُمَا .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ ، وَفِيهِ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ يَعْلَى بْنِ شَدَّادٍ وَلَمْ أَعْرِفْهُ ، وَبَقِيَّةُ رِجَالِهِ ثِقَاتٌ .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ ، وَفِيهِ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ يَعْلَى بْنِ شَدَّادٍ وَلَمْ أَعْرِفْهُ ، وَبَقِيَّةُ رِجَالِهِ ثِقَاتٌ .
It is reported about Sayyiduna Shaddad bin Aws (may Allah be pleased with him) that once he came to Sayyiduna Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him). Sayyiduna Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) was seated, and Sayyiduna Amr bin al-As (may Allah be pleased with him) was seated on his bedding. Sayyiduna Shaddad (may Allah be pleased with him) sat down between the two of them and said: Do you both know why I have sat between you? I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "When you see these two together, separate them, for by Allah, they will come together only for some treachery." (Then Sayyiduna Shaddad bin Aws, may Allah be pleased with him, said:) So I wanted to separate the two of you.
Al-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains Abd al-Rahman bin Ya'la bin Shaddad, whom I do not know, and the rest of its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
