Abu al-Bakhtari narrates: On the day of Siffin, Sayyiduna Ammar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Bring me milk, for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The last thing you will drink in this world will be milk." Milk was brought to him and he drank it; then he advanced and was martyred.
Ahmad and al-Tabarani recorded it. Al-Tabarani's wording states that it was Abu al-Mukhariq who gave him the milk to drink, and adds: Then he looked at the banner of Sayyiduna Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) and said: I fought against the owner of this banner alongside the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The narrators of Ahmad are the narrators of the Sahih, except that it is munqati' (disconnected).
