Muslim Abu Sa'id, the freed slave of Sayyiduna Uthman al-Ghani (may Allah be pleased with him), narrates: Sayyiduna Uthman al-Ghani (may Allah be pleased with him) set free twenty slaves. Then he called for trousers and put them on, although he had never worn them in the Jahiliyyah or in Islam. Then he said: Last night I saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), Sayyiduna Abu Bakr and Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) in a dream. They said to me: Be patient, for tomorrow you are to break your fast with us. Then Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) called for the Qur'an and opened it before him, and when he was martyred, the Qur'an was lying before him.
Abdullah and Abu Ya'la (in al-Kabir) recorded it, and the narrators of both are thiqat (trustworthy).
