وَعَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ أَنَّ عُثْمَانَ أَصْبَحَ يُحَدِّثُ النَّاسَ قَالَ : رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - فِي الْمَنَامِ ، فَقَالَ : يَا عُثْمَانُ ، أَفْطِرْ عِنْدَنَا ، فَأَصْبَحَ صَائِمًا ، وَقُتِلَ مِنْ يَوْمِهِ - رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ وَكَرَّمَ وَجْهَهُ - .
رَوَاهُ أَبُو يَعْلَى فِي الْكَبِيرِ وَالْبَزَّارُ ، وَفِيهِ مَنْ لَمْ أَعْرِفْهُ .

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him), while talking with the people, said: I saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in a dream, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: You are to break your fast with us. (The narrator narrates:) So that day he kept the fast, and on that very day he was martyred. May Allah Almighty be pleased with him and honour his face.
Abu Ya'la recorded it in al-Kabir, and al-Bazzar recorded it; its chain contains a narrator whom I do not know.
