Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: I came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) while he (peace and blessings be upon him) was performing ablution. The vessel in front of him held the measure of one mudd of water; if it was more, it was only slightly more, and if it was less, it was only slightly less. He washed both his hands, rinsed his mouth and put water into his nose, doing this three times each. He washed his face three times and ran his fingers through his beard. Then he washed both his arms three times, and wiped his head and both his ears twice each. Then he washed both his feet and cleaned them well. I said: O Messenger of Allah! Is this how purification is done? He said: "My Lord has commanded me to do it this way."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains a narrator, Nafi' Abu Hurmuz, who is extremely da'if (weak).
