Rashid Abu Muhammad al-Himmani narrates: I saw Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) at al-Zawiyah, and I said to him: Tell me about the ablution of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), how it was, for it has reached me that you used to help him perform ablution. He said: Very well. Then he called for water for ablution, and a basin and a cup carved from stone were brought and placed before him. He poured water over both his hands and washed both hands thoroughly. Then he rinsed his mouth three times, put water into his nose three times, and washed his face three times. Then he drew out his right arm (from the sleeve) and washed it three times, then washed his left arm three times. Then he wiped his head once, except that he also passed his hands over his ears and wiped them. Then he put both his palms into the water. The narrator says: After this he mentioned the complete hadith.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, and its chain is hasan (good).
