Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 11718

Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever sees me in a dream has truly seen me, for Satan cannot take my form." The narrator Ibn Fudayl once transmitted the words: "He cannot take on my appearance." "And the dream of a believing servant which is true and good is a seventieth part of prophethood." (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say:
This report is mentioned in the Sahih, but without the words: "a seventieth part".
Ahmad recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, Kulayb bin Shihab, who is thiqah (trustworthy); some criticism has been made of him which does no harm.
