Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed ablution; he washed his hands three times, rinsed his mouth three times, put water into his nose three times, washed his face three times, and washed both his arms three times.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir through a narrator named Sumay', from Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him), and its chain is hasan (good). Ibn Hibban (may Allah have mercy on him) mentioned the narrator Sumay' in the book al-Thiqat, and he said: I do not know who he is or whose son he is. (Al-Haythami says:) It appears that he relied on someone else in declaring him thiqah (trustworthy).
