Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 11686

It is reported about Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man came to him and said: O Abu Abd al-Rahman! What is your view of a person who recites the Qur'an in reverse? He said: That is a person whose heart is turned upside down. Then a copy of the Noble Qur'an was brought which had been decorated and gilded with gold, and Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The most beautiful thing with which the Noble Qur'an can be adorned is that it be recited in accordance with the truth.
Imam al-Tabarani recorded it, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
