بَابُ اقْرَءُوا الْقُرْآنَ وَلَا تَغْلُوا فِيهِ وَلَا تَجْفُوا عَنْهُ .
Recite the Quran, and do not go to extremes in it nor turn away from it

عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ شِبْلٍ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ أَنَّ مُعَاوِيَةَ قَالَ لَهُ : إِذَا أَتَيْتَ فُسْطَاطِي فَقُمْ فَأَخْبِرِ النَّاسَ مَا سَمِعْتَ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - يَقُولُ : " اقْرَءُوا الْقُرْآنَ وَلَا تَغْلُوا فِيهِ وَلَا تَجْفُوا عَنْهُ وَلَا تَأْكُلُوا بِهِ وَلَا تَسْتَأْثِرُوا بِهِ " . قُلْتُ : فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ ، وَقَدْ تَقَدَّمَ فِي الْبُيُوعِ . رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ ، وَالْبَزَّارُ بِنَحْوِهِ ، وَرِجَالُ أَحْمَدَ ثِقَاتٌ .
Sayyiduna Abd al-Rahman bin Shibl al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) states: Sayyiduna Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) said to him: When you come to my tent, stand up and tell the people what you heard from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). So Sayyiduna Abd al-Rahman (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Learn the Qur'an! Do not go to extremes regarding it, do not neglect it, do not consume its price, and do not seek to gain worldly things by means of it." (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: After this he mentioned the complete hadith, which has already passed in the chapter on buying and selling.
Imam Ahmad recorded it, and Imam al-Bazzar recorded something similar. The narrators of Imam Ahmad are thiqat (trustworthy).
