بَابٌ فِيمَنْ عَلَّمَ وَلَدَهُ الْقُرْآنَ .
One who teaches his child the Quran

وَعَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ يَبْلُغُ بِهِ النَّبِيَّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - قَالَ : " مَا مِنْ رَجُلٍ يُعَلِّمُ وَلَدَهُ الْقُرْآنَ فِي الدُّنْيَا إِلَّا تُوِّجَ أَبُوهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ بِتَاجٍ فِي الْجَنَّةِ يَعْرِفُهُ بِهِ أَهْلُ الْجَنَّةِ بِتَعْلِيمِ وَلَدِهِ الْقُرْآنَ فِي الدُّنْيَا " . رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ ، وَفِيهِ جَابِرُ بْنُ سُلَيْمٍ ، ضَعَّفَهُ الْأَزْدِيُّ .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) states that this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) reached him: "Whoever teaches his children the Qur'an in this world, on the Day of Resurrection the father of that child will be crowned with a crown in Paradise, by which the people of Paradise will recognise him as one who taught his children the Qur'an in the world."
Imam al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; the chain of this report contains a narrator, Jabir bin Sulaym, whom al-Azdi declared da'if (weak).
