Sayyiduna Abd al-Rahman bin Abi Quraad (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I set out with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to perform Hajj. I saw that he (peace and blessings be upon him) had gone out to relieve himself, so I followed him (peace and blessings be upon him) with a water-skin, or (the narrator is unsure) perhaps the words are: a cup. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) intended to relieve himself, he would go far away. I sat waiting for him on the path until the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came back, and then I said to him (peace and blessings be upon him): O Messenger of Allah! Will you perform ablution? Here is water for ablution. So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came towards me. He poured water on his hand and washed it, then he put his hand into the water, took a handful of water and poured it once over his arm, then he wiped his head. Then he took water in his fist and poured it over the upper part of his feet, and he sprinkled water with his hand over the upper part of his feet. (Al-Haythami says:) I say: In the "original"
the report is mentioned like this.
Ahmad recorded it; al-Nasa'i (may Allah have mercy on him) and Ibn Majah recorded only these words from it: "When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was about to relieve himself, he would go far away." Its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
