Sayyidah Asma' bint Yazid (may Allah be pleased with her) reports this statement of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): (Allah Almighty says:) "For the attachment of Quraysh, their attachment to the (trade) journeys of winter and summer." (the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:) Woe to you, O Quraysh! Worship the Lord who feeds you in hunger and gives you security from fear.
Ahmad recorded it, and al-Tabarani recorded it in abridged form, except that he reported these words: "May your mother be ruined, O Quraysh! For your attachment to the (trade) journeys of winter and summer." Its chain contains Ubaydullah bin Abi Ziyad al-Qaddah and Shahr bin Hawshab; both were declared trustworthy, though there is weakness in both of them; the rest of the narrators of Ahmad are thiqat (trustworthy).
