قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى : يَمُنُّونَ عَلَيْكَ أَنْ أَسْلَمُوا .

عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي أَوْفَى أَنَّ نَاسًا مِنَ الْعَرَبِ قَالُوا : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، أَسْلَمْنَا وَلَمْ نُقَاتِلْكَ وَقَاتَلَتْكَ بَنُو فُلَانٍ . فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ - عَزَّ وَجَلَّ - يَمُنُّونَ عَلَيْكَ أَنْ أَسْلَمُوا الْآيَةَ . رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْكَبِيرِ وَالْأَوْسَطِ ، وَفِيهِ الْحَجَّاجُ بْنُ أَرْطَاةَ وَهُوَ ثِقَةٌ وَلَكِنَّهُ مُدَلِّسٌ ، وَبَقِيَّةُ رِجَالِهِ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abi Awfa (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: Some Arabs said: "O Messenger of Allah! We have accepted Islam and we did not fight you, while Banu so-and-so fought you." So Allah Almighty revealed this verse: "They count it as a favour to you that they have accepted Islam"
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir and al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. Its chain contains the narrator al-Hajjaj bin Artah, who is thiqah (trustworthy) but a mudallis; the remaining narrators of this narration are the narrators of the Sahih.
