Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 11191

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrated: Abu Sufyan bin Harb came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "O Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him)! I implore you by Allah: we have been reduced to eating 'ilhiz" (that is, camel hair and blood). So Allah Almighty revealed this verse: "And We seized them with punishment, yet they did not humble themselves before their Lord, nor did they implore (Him) humbly."
Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains Ali bin al-Husayn bin Waqid, whom Nasa'i (may Allah have mercy on him) and others declared thiqah (trustworthy), while Abu Hatim declared him da'if (weak).
