Surah al-Isra: the saying of Allah the Exalted: "And every person We have fastened his record upon his neck"

عَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - يَقُولُ : " طَيْرُ كُلِّ عَبْدٍ فِي عُنُقِهِ " . رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ ، وَفِيهِ ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ وَحَدِيثُهُ حَسَنٌ وَفِيهِ ضَعْفٌ ، وَبَقِيَّةُ رِجَالِهِ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ .
Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) states: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Every servant's record of deeds is fastened to his neck."
Ahmad recorded it. Its chain contains a narrator, Ibn Lahi'ah, whose hadith is hasan, though there is weakness in him; the remaining narrators of this report are the narrators of the Sahih.
