عَنْ أُبَيِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ فِي قَوْلِهِ تَعَالَى : قُلْ هُوَ الْقَادِرُ عَلَى أَنْ يَبْعَثَ عَلَيْكُمْ عَذَابًا مِنْ فَوْقِكُمْ - الْآيَةَ قَالَ : هُنَّ أَرْبَعٌ وَكُلُّهُنَّ عَذَابٌ وَكُلُّهُنَّ وَاقِعٌ لَا مَحَالَةَ ، فَمَضَتِ اثْنَتَانِ بَعْدَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - بِخَمْسٍ وَعِشْرِينَ سَنَةً ، فَأُلْبِسُوا شِيَعًا وَذَاقَ بَعْضُهُمْ بَأْسَ بَعْضٍ ، وَبَقِيَتِ اثْنَتَانِ وَاقِعَتَانِ لَا مَحَالَةَ : الْخَسْفُ وَالرَّجْمُ . رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ ، وَرِجَالُهُ ثِقَاتٌ . قُلْتُ : وَالظَّاهِرُ أَنَّ مِنْ قَوْلِهِ : فَمَضَتِ اثْنَتَانِ ؛ إِلَى آخِرِهِ مِنْ قَوْلِ رَفِيعٍ ، فَإِنَّ أُبَيَّ بْنَ كَعْبٍ لَمْ يَتَأَخَّرْ إِلَى زَمَنِ الْفِتْنَةِ ، وَاللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ . قُلْتُ : وَتَأْتِي بَقِيَّةُ هَذِهِ الْأَحَادِيثِ فِي كِتَابِ الْفِتَنِ ، إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ .
Sayyiduna Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates concerning this saying of Allah Almighty: (Allah Almighty says:) "Say: He is able to send upon you punishment from above you." Sayyiduna Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) said: These are four kinds of punishment, all of them are punishments, and all of them will certainly occur. Two of them have already occurred after the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), within twenty-five years: people split into factions and began killing one another. The remaining two will also certainly occur: being swallowed into the earth and being pelted with stones.
Ahmad recorded it, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy). (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: it appears that these words of the report (from "two of them have passed" to the end) are the words of the narrator Rufay', because Sayyiduna Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) did not live until the time of the tribulation. And Allah knows best. (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: the remaining hadiths of this kind will come in the Book of Tribulations (Kitab al-Fitan), if Allah wills.
