قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى : وَاذْكُرُوا نِعْمَةَ اللَّهِ عَلَيْكُمْ وَمِيثَاقَهُ

عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ - رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا - فِي قَوْلِهِ : ( وَاذْكُرُوا نِعْمَةَ اللَّهِ عَلَيْكُمْ وَمِيثَاقَهُ الَّذِي وَاثَقَكُمْ بِهِ إِذْ قُلْتُمْ سَمِعْنَا وَأَطَعْنَا وَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَلِيمٌ بِذَاتِ الصُّدُورِ ) يَعْنِي حِينَ بَعَثَ النَّبِيَّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - وَأَنْزَلَ عَلَيْهِ الْكِتَابَ قَالُوا : آمَنَّا بِالنَّبِيِّ وَبِالْكِتَابِ وَأَقْرَرْنَا بِمَا فِي التَّوْرَاةِ ، فَذَكَّرَهُمُ اللَّهُ مِيثَاقَهُ الَّذِي أَقَرُّوا بِهِ عَلَى أَنْفُسِهِمْ بِالْوَفَاءِ بِهِ . رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ ، وَعَلِيُّ بْنُ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ لَمْ يَسْمَعْ مِنَ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates concerning this saying of Allah Almighty: (Allah Almighty says:) "And remember the favour of Allah Almighty upon you and His covenant which He made with you when you said: 'We will obey and submit'; so fear Allah Almighty. Indeed, Allah Almighty knows what is within the breasts." Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: This refers to the time when Allah Almighty sent His Prophet and revealed the Book to him; those people said: "We believe in the Prophet and in the Book, and we also affirm what is mentioned in the Torah." So Allah Almighty reminded those people of their covenant which they had affirmed upon themselves, and told them to fulfil it.
Al-Tabarani recorded it; the narrator Ali bin Abi Talhah did not hear from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both).
