Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 10967

Sayyiduna Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: It has reached us that when this verse was revealed: "Nor while in a state of major impurity, except for one passing along a way," the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave the traveller the concession that, when a person is travelling and is in a state of major impurity (janabah) and does not find water, he may perform tayammum and offer the prayer.
Al-Tabarani recorded it within a long hadith which will come later under this saying of Allah Almighty: "Indeed, wine"
This report is mursal; the rest of the narrators of this report are thiqat (trustworthy).
