Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 10934

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrated: Abu Barzah al-Aslami used to give judgments among the Jews regarding their mutual disputes. Some people from among the Muslims also took their mutual cases to him, so Allah Almighty revealed this verse: "Have you not seen those who claim that they believe in what has been revealed to you and in what was revealed before you, and then they wish to take Taghut (that is, Satan) as their arbiter, although they have been commanded to reject him?" The verse continues up to: "We intended nothing but goodness and reconciliation."
Al-Tabarani recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.
