Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 10908

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrated: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) dispatched an army, and it came back. Then he dispatched an army, and it came back. Then he dispatched an army, and they came back, because they had misappropriated the head of a young gazelle made of gold. So this verse was revealed about it: "It is not fitting for a prophet that he should act unfaithfully."
Al-Tabarani recorded it, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
