عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ : قَالَ أَبُو جَهْلٍ : لَئِنْ رَأَيْتُ مُحَمَّدًا يُصَلِّي لَأَطَأَنَّ عَلَى عُنُقِهِ ، فَقِيلَ : هُوَ ذَاكَ ، قَالَ : مَا أَرَاهُ . فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " لَوْ فَعَلَ لَأَخَذَتْهُ الْمَلَائِكَةُ عِيَانًا ، وَلَوْ أَنَّ الْيَهُودَ تَمَنَّوُا الْمَوْتَ لَمَاتُوا " .
قُلْتُ : هُوَ فِي الصَّحِيحِ بِغَيْرِ سِيَاقِهِ . رَوَاهُ الْبَزَّارُ ، وَرِجَالُهُ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ .

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: Abu Jahl said: If I see Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) praying, I will put my foot on his neck. He was told: There he is (praying). He said: I do not see him. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Had he done so, the angels would have seized him in full view, and had the Jews wished for death, they would have died." (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say:
