One who fights out of tribal partisanship

عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - قَالَ : " مَنْ قَاتَلَ تَحْتَ رَايَةٍ يُقَاتِلُ عَصَبِيَّةً أَوْ يَنْصُرُ عَصَبِيَّةً ، فَقِتْلَتُهُ جَاهِلِيَّةٌ " . رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ ، وَفِيهِ قَزَعَةُ بْنُ سُوَيْدٍ وَهُوَ ضَعِيفٌ وَقَدْ وُثِّقَ .
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) reports this statement of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Whoever fights under a banner, fighting out of tribal partisanship ('asabiyyah) or supporting tribal partisanship, his fighting is the fighting of the Jahiliyyah (pre-Islamic ignorance)."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. Its chain contains Qaza'ah bin Suwayd, who is da'if (weak), though he has been declared trustworthy.
