Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: I asked: O Messenger of Allah! Is performing ablution from a new, covered earthen jar more beloved to you, or from the vessels set out for purification? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: No! Rather, from the vessels set out for purification (performing ablution is more beloved to me). Indeed, the religion of Allah Almighty is upright and easy. The narrator says: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to send for the purification vessel, and water would be brought in it, and he would drink that water; he did so hoping for the blessing of the hands of the Muslims.
Imam al-Tabarani recorded this narration in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its narrators have been declared trustworthy. The narrator Abd al-Aziz bin Abi Rawwad is thiqah (trustworthy), but he has been associated with "irja'".
