وَعَنْ غُضَيْفٍ - يَعْنِي ابْنَ الْحَارِثِ - قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - يَقُولُ : " إِذَا شَرِبَ الرَّجُلُ الْخَمْرَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ ، ثُمَّ إِنْ عَادَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ ، ثُمَّ إِنْ عَادَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ ، ثُمَّ إِنْ عَادَ فَاقْتُلُوهُ " . رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ وَالْبَزَّارُ ، وَبَقِيَّةُ رِجَالِهِ ثِقَاتٌ .
Sayyiduna Ghudayf bin al-Harith (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "When a man drinks wine, flog him; then if he does it again, flog him; then if he does it again, flog him; then if he does it again, kill him."
Al-Tabarani and al-Bazzar recorded it; the rest of its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
