Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: A woman came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and confessed to adultery, and the woman was pregnant. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) postponed her case until she gave birth. Then he gave an order concerning her, and her clothes were tied firmly around her body. Then he ordered that she be stoned, and then he led her funeral prayer. A man said to him: "You are leading her funeral prayer when she committed adultery and you had her stoned?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "She has repented with such a repentance that, had seventy of the people of Madinah repented like it, it would have been accepted from them as well. Do you find anyone of greater merit than one who sacrificed her own life?"
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Saghir and al-Mu'jam al-Awsat from his teacher Ali bin Ahmad bin al-Nadr, whom al-Daraqutni (may Allah have mercy on him) declared da'if (weak), while Ahmad bin Kamil al-Qadi said: To my knowledge he has not been criticised in hadith. The rest of its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.
