عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ : لَمَّا نَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةُ فِي أَهْلِ قُبَاءَ ( فِيهِ رِجَالٌ يُحِبُّونَ أَنْ يَتَطَهَّرُوا وَاللَّهُ يُحِبُّ الْمُطَّهِّرِينَ ) فَسَأَلَهُمْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - فَقَالُوا : إِنَّا نُتْبِعُ الْحِجَارَةَ الْمَاءَ .
رَوَاهُ الْبَزَّارُ ، وَفِيهِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ بْنِ عُمَرَ الزُّهْرِيُّ ، ضَعَّفَهُ الْبُخَارِيُّ وَالنَّسَائِيُّ وَغَيْرُهُمَا ، وَهُوَ الَّذِي أَشَارَ بِجَلْدِ مَالِكٍ .
رَوَاهُ الْبَزَّارُ ، وَفِيهِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ بْنِ عُمَرَ الزُّهْرِيُّ ، ضَعَّفَهُ الْبُخَارِيُّ وَالنَّسَائِيُّ وَغَيْرُهُمَا ، وَهُوَ الَّذِي أَشَارَ بِجَلْدِ مَالِكٍ .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: When this verse was revealed concerning the people of Quba: "In it (the mosque) are men who love to purify themselves thoroughly, and Allah Almighty loves those who purify themselves thoroughly." the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked them (about their practice), and they said: After using stones (when relieving ourselves), we also use water.
Imam al-Bazzar recorded this narration; its chain contains a narrator, Muhammad bin Abd al-Aziz bin Umar al-Zuhri, whom Imam Bukhari (may Allah have mercy on him), Imam Nasa'i (may Allah have mercy on him) and others declared da'if (weak); and he is the very person who advised that Imam Malik be flogged.
