Sayyiduna Abu Hasan (may Allah be pleased with him), who had the honour of taking part in the Pledge of Aqabah and the Battle of Badr, narrates: Once we were sitting with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). A man got up and left, forgetting his sandals. Another man took those sandals and placed them under himself. Then the man returned and said: "My sandals were here." The people said: "We have not seen them." He said: "They were right here." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "How can a believer be alarmed? How can he be alarmed?" The man said: "O Messenger of Allah, I only did it as a joke." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "How can a believer be alarmed?" He said this twice, or perhaps three times.
Al-Tabarani recorded it. Its chain contains Husayn bin Abdullah bin Ubaydullah al-Hashimi, who is da'if (weak).
