Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) distributed the spoils of Hawazin, a man stood up. The narrator says: He then mentioned the whole hadith, in which, further on, are these words: He narrates: Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) stood up and said: "O Messenger of Allah, shall I not get up and kill this hypocrite?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I seek refuge in Allah from people going about telling one another that Muhammad has his companions killed."
Ahmad recorded it. Its chain contains the narrator Ibn Lahi'ah, in whom there is weakness, but his hadith is hasan (good).
