Cleaning oneself with stones
Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 1042

وَعَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " إِذَا اسْتَجْمَرَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيَسْتَجْمِرْ ثَلَاثًا " .
وَفِي رِوَايَةٍ : " إِذَا تَغَوَّطَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيَمْسَحْ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ " .
رَوَاهُمَا أَحْمَدُ ، وَرِجَالٌ " إِذَا اسْتَجْمَرَ أَحَدُكُمْ " ثِقَاتٌ .
وَفِي رِوَايَةٍ : " إِذَا تَغَوَّطَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيَمْسَحْ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ " .
رَوَاهُمَا أَحْمَدُ ، وَرِجَالٌ " إِذَا اسْتَجْمَرَ أَحَدُكُمْ " ثِقَاتٌ .
Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When any of you uses stones (for cleansing), he should use three stones." In one report the words are: "When any of you defecates, he should wipe three times." Imam Ahmad recorded both of these reports, and the narrators of the report "When any of you uses stones" are thiqat (trustworthy).
